The first time I heard of Mentarang was early 2010, when my cousin was having his wedding reception at Hutan Melintang, Selangor. There was so many roadside stalls selling mentarang from Tanjung Karang to Sabak Bernam. *if im not mistaken*
I never find the name “mentarang” is weird, though I do think mentarang is weird the first time I set my eyes on it. The anatomy is. Have you seen Senario XX? Remember the spaceship? Well, the shape of mentarang is almost like that, but instead of blue, it is white in colour.
We have been told that the easiest way to clean mentarang is to leave it in a basin of seawater, as the mentarang breathe, the seawater will clean through its cleft. Brush those shellfish under tap water and it is ready to be cook. Here is another picture of mentarang. Much better isn’t it?

Read this. Great article-really. I was all excited when I read this, interesting how they went into mud and collect those weird-looking-yet-delicious creature. To me, this shellfish can be consider as ‘exotic’.
Best x? Ohh and-and tak sangka dalam selut tu ada ular dengan belut. Ke belut memang hidup dalam selut.? Belut selut. I really don’t know. Hee!
p.s: Tsunami creature (0_0)’
Double p.s: Paling sedap pernah makan Mentarang Lomak Cili Api. ;p
