Sugar Cookies

Berkurun-kurun dah nak buat sugar cookies.  Hari ni baru dapat buat.  Itu pun tak beli alat-alat dia.  Cutter pun kecil je.  Orang lain sugar cookies besar-besar, aku punya besar jari.  Actually doh cookies ni aku dah siapkan petang semalam, lepas tu simpan dalam peti ais.  Rasa macam buat kerja gila pula simpan lama-lama.

Ni la dia.  Berangan nak besar dapat kecil, takpe la kan, baru first time nak cuba resipi.  Resipi ni aku ambil dari Yasmin.  Pakar dalam baking.  Kalau ikut dia, bila dah turn brown tu da okay dah, so atas tu la hasilnya tapi tak tau la kenapa cepat sangat dia lemau.  Warna dah cantik, tapi cepat lemau.  Tak apalah, practice makes perfect, nanti try lagi, study macam mana nak buat.  Lagi pun aku tak biasa lagi buat cookies.  Biasa kek dengan puding je.

Sugar Cookies

3 cups all-purpose flour (t.gandum)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter (softened)

3/4 cup sugar

1 egg (large)

2 teaspoon vanilla essence (or other essence)

i. Sift the flour and add the salt into it. 

ii. Cream the butter and sugar until it is mixed, probably about 3 to 4 minutes. 

iii. Add the egg and essence. 

iv. Scrap and continue mixing until all is blended. 

v. Turn the mixer to a slow speed, add the flour bit by bit until all is mix.  Do not overmix. Done.

vi. Now here is the tricky part.  The dough is very soft, you need to put it in the fridge for a while until it is hard enough to roll.

vii. I am using parchment papers to ease the job.  Scrap the dough onto the parchment paper.  Then put another layer of parchment on top of the dough.  Roll and flattened it.

viii. Make some space in your fridge.  I clear one whole shelf and transfer the whole thing, parchment paper with the dough in between, into the fridge.  Let it cool and hardened, I think at least for half an hour.

ix. Preheat the oven, about 350F.  Remove the dough from the fridge and cut them with your cookie cutter. 

x. Arrange on your cookie pan which has been lined with parchment or non stick baking sheet, leaving 1/2 inch between the cookies. 

xi. Bake for about 15 minutes until they turn golden around the edges. 

xii. If the dough turns too soft, put it in the fridge again and repeat the process

Lepas ni beli bahan & alat-alat untuk frosting.  Ni la yang aku nak sangat-sangat buat.  Piping, frosting and flooding.  Aku tak adalah pandai bermain dengan warna, tak kreatif pun tapi aku minat nak cuba.  Since biskut ni kecil,  rasanya aku buat more to piping la kan.  Buat dots and lines.  Kalau beria nak buat flooding pun biskut kecil, flooding sikit-sikit je la.
